Over a hundred years ago, people all around the world applied vegetable coloring matters to dyeing and printing fabrics; now, with the advent of modern industry, synthetic dyestuffs become popular owing to their rich colors and applicability to various fibers, thus they quickly exclude vegetable dyes from the market. However, things will develop in the opposite direction when they become extreme, production and application of synthetic dyestuffs have not only polluted our environment, but also affected out health; now production and application of some categories of synthetic dyestuffs are prohibited in some developed countries, and textiles dyed by such categories can’t be exported to such countries. On the contrary, vegetable dyes gradually find favor in people’s eyes since they bring no public harm and many of them can benefit people’s health. Therefore, it now has become fashionable and noble to wear vegetable dyed clothes.
China boasts rich varieties of vegetable dyes and excellent dyeing techniques. Based on dyeing technique of applying “Indigo Naturalis” to making indigo print, our Company have established relationship with colleges and research institutes since 2000, and set up “ Tongxiang Vegetable Dye Research and Development Center”, the first nongovernmental scientific research institution in Tongxiang City. For the past two years, we have successfully studied and developed many vegetable dyes, including Lignum Sappan, Radix Rubiae, tea, Ay Tsao, Flos Sophorae Lmmaeurus, Flos Chrysanthemi, Fructus Gardeniae, juice of immature persimmon, leatherleaf milletia and mulberry bark, etc.; such vegetable dyes are applied to natural fiber fabrics( cotton, hemp, silk and wool fabrics).
